Lcpl Richards, Jameson D.

USMC Security Forces Battalion

"For the past five years I have had the privilege of training under Sensei Drake Sass.  His unwavering dedication to his students has been instrumental in our lives.  Whether it's advice about life, medical consult, or secrets locked away within the martial arts; Sensei Drake has made his students a part of his family.  Training with him has inspired me to no end.

His traditional outlook and training regime is rare today in the martial community.  His love and quest for wisdom fuels us to push our training to the limits of our potential, and beyond.  Our advanced training combined with practical applications makes the dojo a "diamond in the rough"

Sensei Drake's 32 years of martial studies has led him to train under several recognized people to include Master Phillip Keoppel, John Hutchcroft, Guy Holtzman, Patrick Beaumont, Doug Perry, William Hayes, John Kramer, Mike Klier, Vance Steel, Tom Manfretti, and Jim Walmsley.

You could be 5 years old or 60; train for one hour or 30 years; Sensei Drake's energy will transform you forever."

Our son Kevin has been training in Martial Arts for 3 years and he is a student at Morning Star Karate in Surprise, AZ.   He started training with Sensi Darren Stanley in Kung Fu.  Darren is Sensei Drake Sass’ 1st student to earn his black belt at Morning Star Karate in Wickenburg.  Kevin trained for 8 months with Sensei Stanley and the Discipline, Respect, and Commitment to Martial Arts that he learned will stick with him always.  Darren is now the head instructor at Morning Star Karate in WA.

Kevin has been training with Sensei Drake Sass for 2 years and just recently earned the rank of Green Belt.  Because of the training that he has received from Sensei Drake Sass and the other instructors he has excelled in Karate and has won several awards. Kevin has a passion for karate wants to continue to get better and his goal is to earn Black Belt. Kevin started training in Kobudo a year ago with Sensei John Arcell.  John has passed down his weapons experience to Kevin and because of the awesome training that he has received he has won 1st place in several tournaments.  He also has won State Champion and Grand Champion at the AZ State Tournament in 2008, National Champion 2008,2009, and Grand Champion at two ASKA Tournaments June 2008 and August 2009.  Our family is very fortunate for the excellent training that our son has received at Morning Star Karate and we would like to thank Sensei Drake Sass and all the instructors for their hard work, compassion and dedication to Martial Arts.
